I am a 43 year old woman who has not had a period in over 9 months. I also have a list of symptoms which include extreme fatigue, weight gain (10+lbs. in the last 3 months), headaches, anxiety, just to mention a few!

I finally got my doctor to check my hormone levels. My estradiol level was over 740 the first time, so he re-tested and that one came back at 810! He ordered progesterone for me and I pick it up at the pharmacy tomorrow. I think it's the pill form. I am worried that it won't work after reading all the info on this website. I would love to hear any suggestions.

I also wanted to mention that I have been suffering from fibromyalgia for the last 8 years. I really want to get my life back. I am considering calling the doctor and ask him his opinion on the progesterone he ordered and the cream I can get on my own. Please help!

Hypophyseal portal blood concentrations of CRH are 150 times the peripheral circulating level. CRH induces the production and release of ACTH by binding to corticotrophs in the anterior pituitary via the type 1 CRH receptor which activates adenylate cyclase. 20 CRH receptors are found in the neocortex, the limbic system, the adrenal medulla, and the sympathetic ganglia. The paraventricular nucleus also is the location of many of the vasopressin-containing cells that project to the posterior pituitary. Arginine vasopressin (AVP) acts via the V1B receptor to activate protein kinase C and is highly synergistic with CRH including in ACTH release. 21 , 22
